Email Subscriptions

Email subscriptions are currently handled by Feedburner (a Google product).

In order to subscribe to Companion Animal Psychology, you must explicitly opt in by providing your email address for that purpose. No other personal information is required. By submitting your Personal Information through the email subscription process, you agree to receive communications from Companion Animal Psychology representatives, including e-mails or other means of communications.

You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the ‘unsubscribe’ link that is at the bottom of every email.

Feedburner provides us with a list of email subscribers. We do not use this list for any other purpose than the email subscription list, and do not share this list with anyone else.

Feedburner also provides anonymized, aggregate information on some functionality, including how many people have opened each email. However, we cannot tell whether or not individuals have opened each email, and you may also turn off this feature as a general setting in your email provider.

Link-Ups

Link-Ups are sometimes used for the purpose of a blog party (whereby bloggers supply links to posts on their own blog) or for photo sharing (whereby readers may upload a photo of their pet to include in the link-up).

InLinkz is used to create the link-ups.

If you share a blog post and/or photo via a link-up, you can choose to delete it at any time.

You have to provide an email address in order to participate in a link-up. This email address will only be used to communicate with you about the link-up, if necessary (e.g. if there appears to be an issue with your entry). You will not be added to the email subscribers list and we will not use your email address for any other purpose.

Cookies

Cookies are small data files stored on your hard drive or device memory. They are used to improve the browsing experience. They do not give access to your computer or any personal information.

Third Parties

A number of third parties provide functionality on this site and may use cookies, serve content and advertisements, and collect information about you.

These include Google Blogger (as this site is served by Blogger), Google Analytics, AddThis (for sharing buttons), Amazon (for affiliate advertising), and AWIN (for Etsy affiliate advertising).

Google Blogger is the host of this website and uses cookies to provide you with a better experience. You will be asked if you want to agree to cookies the first time you visit this site. Visitors from the EU will see a different message regarding opting-in to cookies in order to comply with GDPR.

Google Blogger has made changes to the way comments are handled, and in particular OpenID is no longer supported. Any comments previously left under OpenID will be anonymized. Comments can still be posted from a Google account or anonymously.

AddThis provides the share buttons for Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Reddit, etc. that are on the side of the blog and on every photo. If you use these buttons, they will need to connect to your account on the social media or email service you are sharing with.

Google Analytics collects information about visitors to the site and provides us with aggregate information (e.g. about how many unique visitors there were to specific posts or during specific time periods). In some cases it may provide the search query or source of your referral to this website, again in an anonymized fashion. Where Google Analytics tracks specific user information, this is deleted after 26 months. Google provides you with options to change your privacy settings if you wish.

If you do not wish Google Analytics to use your data, you can use the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on. You can also refer to Google’s privacy policy which includes Analytics and Blogger (as well as other Google services).
