It's just a few days since my new book, Bark! The Science of Helping Your Anxious, Fearful, or Reactive Dog was published, and I've been busy talking to people about what we can do to make a difference for fearful dogs.
Almost three-quarters of dogs have some kind of fear or anxiety, the most common being fear of loud noises. That means there are a lot of dogs who need help!
Here are some of the interviews I've done this week. Plus, you can read an excerpt from the book. Details below.
Thumps, bumps, and bangs: An excerpt from Bark!
You can read an excerpt from Bark! in The Psychologist magazine (and on their website).
It's here: Thumps, bumps, and bangs: When your dog fears loud noises.

I'm thrilled that Bark! has appeared on Keith Baldrey's bookshelf on Global News BC. (See the photo, above).
Keith does a lot to support BC authors and I'm so happy that he gave Bark! such prominent placement! Thank you, Keith!!
New interviews on how to help fearful dogs
I spoke to Tracie Hotchner on her NPR show Dog Talk (and Kitties too) about Bark! We chatted about how to help fearful dogs feel safe, and there are lots of tips in this episode.

I was interviewed by The Farmer's Dog Digest about how to help fearful and anxious dogs. We chatted about my little dog Pepper and how long it took him to settle in when we adopted him, as well as tips for taking your dog to the vet and getting them used to being handled.
Read it here: Dog-person interview: Dr. Zazie Todd, author of "Bark!", on how to help an anxious or fearful dog.
As well, yesterday I did 17 radio interviews (yep, 17!!) with CBC radio stations across Canada. Some were live, but most were recorded to air this weekend. So if you're in Canada, listen out for an interview with me on your local CBC radio station!
These are called CBC syndication interviews and they involve a 4-hour slot in which stations can book an interview with you. I've done these before, but never had so many as 17 interviews--you'd be very happy with 10! It's all very tightly managed so just as soon as one interview ends, the next one is about to start.
I'm glad there is so much interest in how to help dogs who are anxious, fearful, or reactive.
