Invitation to Join the Purr Party

Your invitation to join The Purr Party with behind-the-scenes access to my book launch.

I am only a few weeks away from the launch of my book, Purr: The Science of Making Your Cat Happy. 

Purr is my second book and as you might have noticed, I am very excited about it! I hope it will help a lot of people have happier cats. 

For me, one of the most fun parts of the process of publishing my first book, Wag, was the launch team. I really enjoyed chatting with people on the team and seeing photos of their adorable dogs with the book. I will forever be grateful to everyone on the team who helped me launch Wag into the world.

And so I’m going to run a similar team for Purr—The Purr Party.

Would you like to be one of the special people who is part of the book launch? I am recruiting people to help me with the launch of Purr: The Science of Making Your Cat Happy. 

But there are some special requirements.

If you want to be part of The Purr Party, you should:

• Be a fan of my blog, Companion Animal Psychology
• Pre-order a copy of Purr (or reserve a copy from your local library) to have by the launch date (May 3rd in Canada and the US, May 26th in the UK). Purr is available from all good bookstores and you can find it at your local indie bookstore or find pre-order links on my homepage.
• Have a pet or access to a pet who will pose for a photo. (Since Purr is about cats, I am mostly expecting cat guardians to join, but dogs are welcome to support their feline friends)
• Post a photo of your pet with Purr on your social media channels within a few days of the book’s launch
• Write an honest review of the book on Amazon or Goodreads within 4 weeks of the book’s publication.

In return, you will get to:

• Share in the excitement of a book launch 
• Be a member of a private Facebook group where we can chat about the book and share ways to help the book launch be a success (membership is optional)
• Take part in a private Q&A with me about the book on Zoom. You can submit questions in advance or ask them during the webinar. It will be recorded so you can watch it later if you’re not able to attend live.
• Receive 1-2 emails a week from me over the launch period with behind-the-scenes info on how it’s all going
• Be in a draw to win one of two purrfect prize packs (including a signed copy of Purr and some goodies for your cat and for you, including some silver vine and honeysuckle cat toys).

If you would like to join The Purr Party, please complete this form by 6pm Pacific Time on 16th April 2022.  

I will review the applications and if you’re accepted I will email you to invite you to join the email list and Facebook group. I will try to send the invites within 72 hours of the deadline (remember to check your spam folder just in case). 

Other ways to support the book

If you want to help with the launch but don’t want the commitment of being on the launch team, there are several ways you can support the book:

• Pre-order a copy of Purr for yourself or a friend
• Request the book via your local library
• Review the book on Amazon or GoodReads
• Post about the book on social media
• Tell your friends about the book

The small print

If you’re accepted to join The Purr Party, you will only receive emails about the launch. I will not share your email address with anyone else. You can unsubscribe at any time and leave the Facebook group if you decide you don’t want to be part of the team after all.

Members of the team are asked to be friendly and respectful. If anyone doesn’t follow the group rules, I reserve the right to remove them from the group.

The private Q&A cannot be used as a private consultation about your own pet and I’m not able to give advice about pet behaviour over the internet. But you can bring your questions about cats!

You do not need to write a review of the book to be entered into the prize draw.

The draw for the two prize packs will take place on 6th June. I will email the winners, who must reply with their mailing address within 7 days of my email. If anyone fails to reply during that time, I’ll draw another winner. The winner is responsible for any duties and taxes that may be due on the package, which will ship from Canada.
